Job Description

This Senior Process Engineer role offers an opportunity to elevate the maturity, discipline, and strategic direction of the Process Engineering function within a manufacturing environment. You will provide experienced leadership to a junior team, strengthen core engineering practices, and serve as a seasoned problem-solver who drives proactive, high-value operational improvements. The position focuses on supporting daily operations while leading strategic initiatives that enhance cost, quality, yield, throughput, and overall manufacturing performance.

Responsibilities

* Support daily manufacturing operations by troubleshooting process issues, resolving production challenges, and guiding updates to process documentation.

* Drive strategic, high-impact process improvements that enhance cost efficiency, product quality, yield, and throughput across the manufacturing lines.

* Manage capital projects by developing and justifying business cases, making sound spending decisions, and overseeing project execution from concept through implementation.

* Lead root cause investigations for process and equipment issues and implement robust, long-term corrective and preventive actions.

* Develop and maintain process maps, control plans, FMEAs, standardized work instructions, and other process control tools to ensure consistent and reliable operations.

* Plan, execute, and oversee cross-functional projects, balancing real-time line support with longer-term project work to meet operational and strategic objectives.

* Evaluate equipment, technologies, and manufacturing processes to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, and overall operational performance.

* Support new product introductions by assessing manufacturability, defining process requirements, and leading process scale-up activities.

* Create clear, data-driven technical reports, analyses, and project updates to communicate findings, recommendations, and progress to stakeholders.

* Provide leadership and mentorship to less-experienced engineers and technicians, helping to build a more mature and disciplined Process Engineering function.

Essential Skills

* Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline such as Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or Polymer Engineering.

* 10+ years of experience in a Manufacturing or Process Engineering role, with flexibility to consider slightly less tenure based on the relevance and depth of experience.

* Demonstrated experience in a Manufacturing or Process Engineering environment, supporting production operations and driving process improvements.

* Previous leadership or supervision experience, either through managing direct reports or leading project teams.

* Experience projecting capital equipment needs and developing strategic timelines for capital expenditures.

* Strong project management skills, including planning, prioritization, and execution of multiple concurrent initiatives.

* Proven process improvement experience focused on cost, quality, yield, and throughput in a manufacturing setting.

* Experience with capital equipment planning, justification, and implementation within a manufacturing environment.

* Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and act on data to drive decisions and improvements.

* Experience in manufacturing engineering or process engineering roles that involve cross-functional collaboration.

* Ability to meet requirements for U.S. export control regulations.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

* Experience developing process maps, control plans, FMEAs, and standardized work tools to support robust process control.

* Background in leadership development, including mentoring junior engineers and guiding technical teams.

* Exposure to strategic planning within a manufacturing or engineering context, including long-term process and capacity planning.

* Experience supporting new product manufacturability assessments and process scale-up activities.

* Ability to evaluate and recommend new equipment and technologies to improve safety, reliability, and efficiency.

* Strong written communication skills for preparing technical reports, analyses, and project updates for diverse audiences.

* Comfort working in cross-functional teams, including R&D, Operations, and Engineering, to deliver shared outcomes.

Work Environment

This role operates in a dynamic manufacturing environment with approximately 70% of the time spent on the manufacturing floor and 30% in an office setting. You will work closely with cross-functional partners, including R&D, Operations, and Engineering, and maintain frequent interaction with technicians on the production floor. The position serves as the primary point of contact for a designated area of the manufacturing floor, providing day-to-day support while also owning specific projects from initiation through completion.
