The Davey Tree Expert Company, has an opportunity in our corporate office in Kent, Ohio for an Endpoint Technician Intern. Davey is a national leader in the tree care, utility line clearing and forestry consulting industries, with operations throughout the US and Canada.
The Endpoint Technician Intern's role at Davey Tree is to assist our IT Team and ensure the stable operation of the inhouse computer systems. This is a learning opportunity where you will help with installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting all client computer hardware and software. You will work alongside experienced technicians to analyze and resolve end-user software program and connectivity issues in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user training where required.
Job Duties
* Assist in managing and administering all desktop and operating systems and their corresponding or associated software
* Support the team in ensuring the integrity of host computers.
* Help with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end-user desktops.
* Assist with installing and configuring collaboration/messaging and printing systems.
* Learn to install and configure mobile devices (phones, tablets, etc.) and mobile wireless access points.
* Help ensure the connectivity of all workstations (including thin clients).
* Conduct research on emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
* Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
* Recommend, schedule, and perform client software improvements, upgrades, and/or purchases.
Qualifications
* Currently enrolled in a college diploma or university degree program in the field of computer science or a related field is preferred.
* A basic understanding of network, PC hardware, and current Windows operating systems. Knowledge of Mac and Linux is a plus.
* A strong desire to learn about Microsoft 365 (M365), Intune, and Tanium.
* A foundational knowledge of local area network administration.
* Aptitude for hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
* Adept at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.
* Ability to conduct research into software issues and products as required.
* Ability to present ideas and solutions in both technical and nontechnical language.
* Highly self motivated and directed.
* Keen attention to detail.
* Possess analytical and problem solving abilities.
* Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high pressure environment.
* Strong customer service orientation.
* Able to work in a team oriented, collaborative environment.
