About the Position

Responsible for operating machines to ensure quality standards, schedule attainment, and line efficiency. Operators must be able to run multimedia lines:
Multivac, Circle 40, Shrink Tunnel, Velocity, Ultracan, Shaking, Delinking, Jerky Mixing, Batching, Stuffing, and Spice Blend.

Schedule
  • 3rd shift (initial training on 2nd shift for approximately 6–9 months).
  • 8 hours per day, plus possible daily overtime and Saturday work during peak production.
Wage

$23.00 – $29.00 per hour DOE, plus $1.00 per hour for shift differential for 2nd/3rd shifts.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Ensure materials (meat, dates, tape, labels, etc.) are correct by product specifications.
  • Set up workstations for efficient packaging.
  • Lead and direct employees on other lines or rework when machines are down.
  • Encourage punctuality and readiness after breaks.
  • Perform product quality and QA checks to reduce waste or rework.
  • Adjust machines for quality and efficiency (registration, sealing temp, speed, gas levels, slicing width).
  • Maintain records and complete paperwork accurately.
  • Load and thread film on packaging lines and perform metal detection.
  • Prepare work areas and stage spices, removing foreign material.
  • Perform basic maintenance, keep equipment clean and sanitized.
  • Record weights and batch numbers for product identification.
  • Monitor machine operations and separate rejected items.
  • Stop or reset machines on malfunctions, clear jams, and report to lead.
  • Set up and adjust the check weighers.
  • Stock and replenish packaging supplies (film, WIP, boxes, clip strips).
  • Inspect and remove defective products and packaging materials.
  • Manage machine changeovers, sanitizing for species or allergen changes.
  • Run labels per product specifications.
  • Ensure safety and sanitation measures are followed.
  • Maintain smooth workflow and assign people to machine functions.
  • Track production relative to schedules and monitor crew & machine levels.
  • Assist lead or supervisor by training new personnel and monitoring performance.
  • Maintain product integrity and perform quality checks throughout the area.
  • Perform raw material audits and weight checks.
  • Follow specification sheets and SLAs.
  • Grind, add, and record rework, keeping items distinct.
  • Verify palletized meat matches batch ticket.
  • Utilize team members efficiently during downtime, directing to special projects or other departments.
  • Inform management of any Food Safety or Quality issues and maintain accountability to Oberto Brands Food Safety and Quality Principles.
  • Support SQF 2000 Systems implementation and continuous improvement.
  • Act as backup for Operator Trainee, Operator 2, and Operator 3.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma (minimum).
  • At least 6 months of manufacturing experience.
  • Experience operating pallet jacks.
  • Lock‑Out Tag‑Out Certified (on‑the‑job training).
  • Familiarity with HACCP and SQF (on‑the‑job training).
  • Additional food safety, quality, technical, and regulatory training as needed.
  • Must lift 25–35 lbs frequently and 40–50 lbs occasionally.
  • Understanding of GMPs and personal safety rules (on‑the‑job training).
  • Proficiency working cooperatively with others.
  • Judgment and discretion.
  • Deadline oriented.
  • Ability to read specifications and BOMs.
  • Basic math skills for weights and calculations.
  • Troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude.
  • English language proficiency – speaking, reading, writing.
  • Calculator use and basic math skills.
  • Quick and proper decision making.
  • Visual inspection of packages for quality.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling.
