Welder

This role performs a wide range of welding and fabrication tasks in a manufacturing environment, using multiple welding processes to produce high-quality parts and assemblies that meet strict customer and internal quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out welding tasks including tacking, welding, and finishing in accordance with approved procedures and work instructions.
  • Utilize manual and semi-automated welding equipment, including GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, plasma arc, resistance, and submerged arc methods.
  • Measure, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies to meet project specifications and tolerances.
  • Fasten components by clamping, tack welding, grinding, or bolting to ensure proper alignment before final welding.
  • Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work instructions, and job specifications to determine proper welding techniques and sequence of operations.
  • Use measuring instruments such as calipers, squares, and rulers to ensure precision and accuracy in layouts and assemblies.
  • Examine finished welds and materials to confirm they meet required specifications and quality standards.
  • Monitor welding operations to prevent warping, overheating, or distortion of materials.
  • Identify and report any defects in materials or completed welds and participate in corrective actions as needed.
  • Recognize equipment issues or malfunctions and promptly inform supervisors to minimize downtime and maintain safety.
  • Track welding supply levels and communicate upcoming needs in advance to support uninterrupted production.
  • Operate material handling equipment in accordance with company guidelines and safety procedures.
  • Safely transport, position, and secure materials and completed assemblies using proper equipment and handling techniques.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace at all times, ensuring tools and materials are stored properly.
  • Keep work areas clear of debris, excess materials, and potential hazards to support a safe and efficient operation.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations during all work activities.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots.
  • Stay alert to workplace hazards and immediately report unsafe conditions or near misses.
  • Contribute to team success by supporting coworkers, sharing knowledge, and helping achieve production goals.
  • Remain flexible with schedules, including working overtime and adjusting to changing production demands when necessary.
  • Promote a team-oriented environment where colleagues collaborate and support one another.
  • Work effectively in a manufacturing environment with noise, dust, and other industrial conditions.
  • Stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motion tasks while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Lift, carry, and maneuver parts of varying sizes, using crane assistance when appropriate and available.
  • Operate blasting equipment that requires sustained physical control and resistance.
  • Meet all customer requirements and internal quality standards for welded and fabricated products.
  • Follow all procedures outlined in the Quality Management System to ensure consistent and compliant work.
  • Accurately record inspection and measurement data to support quality assurance and traceability.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Manufacturing or fabrication experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of welding techniques, equipment, and materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in shop math and measurement.
  • Experience with MIG welding.
  • Experience with TIG welding.
  • Experience with flux core welding.
  • Experience with stick welding.
  • Ability to weld stainless steel, mild steel, and sheet metal.
  • Blueprint reading skills related to structural and fabrication work.

  • Completion of welding school or equivalent on-the-job training preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and follow detailed work instructions and job specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Comfort working with various welding processes, including GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, plasma arc, resistance, and submerged arc methods.
  • Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers, squares, and rulers with precision.
  • Willingness to work a second shift schedule and overtime as production needs require.
