Role Overview
We are looking for a route sales & service level I technician who has a passion for the customer and life safety. The perfect candidate loves people, is sales oriented and can successfully perform inspection, installation, testing, service, and repair required on fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights, and kitchen hood suppression systems. The role includes confirming compliance with applicable life‑safety and fire‑safety requirements as mandated by standards and codes, manufacturer requirements, federal, state and local ordinances, customer requirements, and the expectations and requirements of the company.
This is a fast‑paced and demanding role with high visibility within the company.

- Perform inspection, testing, service, and repairs for fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights, and general life safety products.
- Learn pre‑engineered suppression systems, such as six‑year maintenance, hydrotest, recharge, battery replacement, bulb replacement and other services and repairs mandated by standards, codes, manufacturer requirements, federal, state and local ordinances, and procedures.
- Troubleshoot and perform service and repair of fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights, and kitchen hood suppression systems.
- Record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations electronically or manually.
- Maintain a positive relationship with customers and pass on information to appropriate personnel for follow‑up, quotes, questions, or concerns.
- Maintain vehicle in a clean and orderly fashion; keep vehicle stocked with necessary parts, equipment, and supplies.
- Maintain equipment and tools necessary for safe job performance.
- Evaluate customer sites for additional equipment and services that the customer may require.
- Work in compliance with the company’s safety program.
- Discuss deficiencies noted with customers, explaining the problem and its resolution.
- Be prepared to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays; demands may vary by location.
- Be comfortable with heights, working on ladders or lifts, or in confined spaces.
- At least 90 days of experience training on or working a route in fire protection with a concentration in extinguishers, e‑lights, and general life safety products.
- Ability to calculate basic math, including fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Knowledge and ability to understand and operate basic computer functions, operating systems, and software applications such as Windows, Word, Apple iOS, Android, and Outlook; willingness to learn industry‑specific devices and software.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- 90 days to 1 year of experience training on or working a route in fire protection with a concentration in extinguishers, e‑lights, and general life safety products.
- Training and experience working on kitchen hood and pre‑engineered suppression systems.
Physical Requirements
Overtime may be required, and the number of hours may vary based on work location. Employees may be exposed to a variety of work environments, from hot to cold temperatures and dust. Travel overnight to customers may be required. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and frequently lift and carry toolboxes, equipment, parts, tools, cabling, and wiring.
Frequent ladder climbing, pulling wire, walking, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, and raising hands overhead are required. Driving is required, and the amount of time driving may vary. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn in accordance with safety standards.
