Senior Tax Associate – CPA Firm / Tax Manager track DescriptionOur client, an advisory-focused CPA firm, is looking for a Senior Tax Associate to add to their growing team. In this role, you will support entrepreneurs and business owners through tax preparation, review support, client communication, and growing advisory exposure. Most of your work will focus on execution, including individual and business tax returns, with additional exposure to planning, M&A, QSBS, equity compensation, and cross-border tax matters.
To be considered, you must have a bachelor’s degree, 3+ years of public accounting tax experience within SMB firm environment, including individual and business returns, and either an EA or active CPA track. - Prepare individual and business tax returns
- Review simple returns and support tax work papers
- Manage assigned tax tasks, timelines, and open items
- Communicate with clients on tax questions and deadlines
- Explain technical tax concepts in clear, practical language
- Research tax issues and summarize findings
- Support tax planning for entrepreneurs and business owners
- Track client deliverables and follow up on missing items
- Coordinate with partners and managers on client work
- Manage competing priorities during peak tax seasons
- Bachelor’s degree required
- EA achieved or active CPA candidate required
- 3+ years of public accounting tax experience at a small to mid-sized CPA firm required
- Individual and business tax returns (e.g. 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120‑S, etc.) experience required
- Client-facing tax communication experience required
- Enterprise tax software and practice management tools experience required
- Microsoft 365 and strong Excel skills required
- Ability to work 60-70 hours during peak tax seasons required
