The Project Accountant will serve as a key member of the accounting team and is responsible for the full lifecycle of assigned projects, including project setup, contract review, billing, financial reporting, receivables, and closeout. Under the supervision of the Division Controller, this role partners with Project Managers and other stakeholders to ensure project accounting records, invoices, and reports are accurate, and contract-compliant, and completed by established deadlines.
The role is also expected to embrace emerging technology, including AI-enabled tools, and proactively identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of accounting processes.
Responsibilities include managing monthly billing in conjunction with Project Managers, submitting final invoices and statements, preparing pay applications and lien waivers, reviewing and interpreting contracts, setting up projects, managing the project accounting lifecycle, monitoring project receivables, maintaining organized project and client records, assisting with month-end and quarter-end close, monitoring and measuring job costs against budget, generating job cost reports, performing job cost reconciliations, developing contract tracking tools, serving as a financial and accounting liaison, recommending improvements to the billing cycle, implementing AI and automation to streamline processes, and complying with federal, state, and company policies.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field, 3-5 years of project accounting experience, experience applying AI or automation tools, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, intermediate to advanced computer literacy, practical experience using generative AI or other AI-enabled productivity tools, and experience with engineering or architecture industry-specific accounting software.
This role is a hybrid position (3 days a week) based out of our Ontario, CA;
Duluth, GA; or Kent, WA offices.
