This position consists of work assignments with occasional variations. Requires the ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality. Requires strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. Works under moderate supervision with established procedures and guidelines.
Job SummaryResponsible for processing biweekly payroll, auditing payroll data, calculating adjustments, maintaining payroll records, and preparing payroll-related reports. Serves as backup support for salaried and Canadian payroll processing.

Job Skills /Experience
- Minimum of five years of payroll processing experience preferred.
- Excellent data entry, 10-key, and mathematical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other business software applications.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce.
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Detail oriented, organized, and capable of working independently.
- Knowledge of payroll compliance requirements, wage and hour regulations, and payroll tax practices.
- Payroll Processing:
Perform end-to-end processing of multi-state biweekly payroll for hourly employees. - Compliance & Tax Management:
Ensure accurate calculation and withholding of federal, state, and local taxes, as well as voluntary and involuntary deductions (e.g., medical benefits, 401(k), court-ordered garnishments). - System Maintenance:
Manage, update, and troubleshoot employee data within the payroll system, including rate changes, new hire setups, terminations, and department transfers. - Auditing and Reconciliation:
Conduct routine pre- and post-payroll audits to verify hours, rate changes, and retro-pay calculations. - Employee Support:
Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll inquiries, resolve discrepancies promptly, and explain payroll deductions and tax-related matters in a professional and customer-focused manner. - Reporting:
Generate payroll, labor distribution, attendance, and related reports for management, Accounting, and Human Resources. - Other duties:
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the payroll manager.
Job Skills /Experience
- Experience with an automated time collection system.
- Experience processing multi-union and multi-state payrolls for organizations with 250+ employees.
- Experience with Dayforce/Ceridian and DOS systems preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally via email, telephone, and in person.
- Familiarity with garnishment administration and payroll reporting requirements.
