About this position

The IDB Group is looking for an active undergraduate student to be hired as an intern under the Consultant modality.

The 2027 Winter Internship Program is a competitive paid opportunity, based in Headquarters, for university students from member countries to learn about development work and corporate management of the Bank, and to acquire work experience at the professional level through on-the-job learning.

What you’ll do
  • Support Strategic Country Positioning and Stakeholder Engagement
    :
    Assist in the preparation of strategic documents, presentations, briefing materials, and talking points that communicate IDB Lab’s value proposition and priorities.
  • Support Strategic Research and Analysis
    :
    Assist in analyzing IDB Lab’s activities, country priorities, and private sector trends to inform strategic planning and engagement efforts.
  • Support Portfolio Analysis and Insight Generation
    :
    Assist in analyzing portfolio and pipeline data to identify trends, opportunities, and key strategic messages.
  • Support Knowledge Management and Coordination
    :
    Assist in maintaining country profiles, strategic materials, and knowledge products, ensuring consistency and quality across deliverables.
What you'll need
  • Education
    :
    An active undergraduate student in Business, International Relations, Economics, Communication, and related fields from an accredited University. The graduation date should be after the Internship period.
  • Languages:Fluency in English with an nativ e or working knowledge of one other Bank language(Spanish, French, or Portuguese).
  • Key Skills
    :
    Learn continuously, collaborate and share knowledge, focus on clients, communicate and influence, innovate and try new things, initiative and proactive problem-solving.
  • Soft Skills
    :
    Results-driven, team-oriented, inclusive, collaborative, innovative, and client-oriented, with strong self-motivation, eagerness to learn, and excellent time management and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Technical skills: Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and identify strategic insights;
    Strong organizational and project management skills, with attention to detail;
    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Experience with data visualization, presentation design, and storytelling is desirable. Knowledge of AI-powered productivity and research tools is a plus.

  • Citizenship
    :
    Be a national of an IDB member country.
  • Active student
    :
    Enrolled in an undergraduate (bachelor’s) program as of the starting date of the internship program. The graduation date should be after the Internship period.
  • Consanguinity
    :
    Not have family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB or IDB Invest.
  • First job at the IDB Group
    :
    Be a first-time participant in an Internship Program held by the Bank or Inter‑American Investment Corporation (“Corporation” also known as “IDB Invest”). In addition, you have not been a former staff member, Complementary Workforce (“CW”), contractor for the Bank or the Corporation, or have previously provided services to…
