Construction Project Manager - Shoring, Foundations and Geotechnical Construction

Overview

An established geotechnical construction contractor is seeking a Project Manager to lead the execution of complex projects across deep foundations, shoring, ground improvement, grouting, and dewatering scopes. This role is responsible for managing the full project lifecycle-from estimating and preconstruction through execution and closeout-while working closely with field teams and clients. The ideal candidate is hands-on, technically strong, and thrives in a fast-paced, field-driven environment where problem-solving, ownership, and collaboration are critical to success.

Must Haves
  • 5-10+ years of construction experience with at least several years in a Project Manager or similar role within heavy civil or geotechnical construction.
  • Experience managing projects involving deep foundations, earth retention, drilling, or ground improvement scopes.
  • Strong understanding of project financials, including estimating, budgeting, cost control, and forecasting.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining schedule, quality, and safety expectations.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with superintendents, field crews, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Nice to Haves
  • Design-build project experience, particularly in shoring or specialty geotechnical work.
  • Experience working in union environments and coordinating skilled craft labor.
  • Exposure to both public and private sector projects.
  • Experience working in tight-access or complex urban jobsite conditions.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the full lifecycle of geotechnical construction projects, including estimating, preconstruction planning, execution, and closeout.
  • Prepare and review cost estimates, proposals, and bid packages for drilling, shoring, foundation, and ground improvement work.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and forecasts, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Work closely with superintendents and field teams to coordinate daily operations and ensure safe, efficient execution of work.
  • Oversee subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure alignment with project scope, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Identify project risks and develop practical solutions to address changing site conditions, design challenges, and operational constraints.
  • Maintain strong client relationships through clear communication, responsiveness, and consistent project delivery.
  • Coordinate with engineers and internal teams on design-build projects, helping to develop practical and constructible solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, drawings, specifications, and applicable regulations.
  • Track and manage project costs, including change orders, subcontractor costs, and material expenditures.
  • Lead project meetings, including internal coordination meetings and client-facing discussions.
  • Support safety initiatives by reinforcing safe work practices and partnering with safety teams to address jobsite risks.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying efficiencies and sharing lessons learned across projects.
