Job Summary

Superintendents are responsible for simultaneously managing the production of multiple construction (repair) projects that are generally outsourced to subcontractors. They collaborate with subcontractors to determine scope of work and price negotiations. The position reports directly to the Branch Manager or Regional Operations Manager and interfaces regularly with other departments as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with adjusters, customers, co‑workers and contractors – articulating scope of work, expectations, and timelines.
  • Assist with negotiating pricing and obtaining approval to proceed from the Regional Operations Manager.
  • Oversee work performed by subcontractors to ensure it is completed as agreed and to customer satisfaction.
  • Develop means of tracking and monitoring subcontractor work; follow‑up regularly and update job records.
  • Work with Regional Project Managers or Project Directors to develop budgets and schedules for repair projects.
  • Gather, review, and submit all documents and work orders so the Project Director can prepare progress billings and final billing in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and update job budgets and schedules.
  • Schedule subcontractors to perform work on the jobs.
  • Evaluate subcontractor performance, report deficiencies, and address corrective actions.
  • Obtain permits through local agencies as necessary.
  • Complete paperwork and client/subcontractor change orders for signature.
  • Support the company’s safe workplace policies and practices and promote adherence.
Experience / Requirements
  • Experience in commercial construction performing supervisory or superintendent duties, specifically in construction and/or restoration/mitigation loss.
  • Hands‑on experience in defining project budgets, including tracking, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record in good standing.
  • Industry‑related certifications are a plus.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining strong customer relations, building on company reputation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels.
  • Excellent time‑management skills, with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Outlook, Word and Excel;
    Xactimate experience is a plus.
Safety Requirements
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, goggles, hard hats, and safety footwear as dictated by the role.
  • Successfully complete a pulmonary function test, including a respirator fit test, to ensure ability to use the designated respirator.
  • Acknowledge potential exposure to physical hazards such as vibration, falls, extreme temperatures, and high noise levels.
  • Acknowledge potential exposure to chemical hazards such as solvents, adhesives, paints, and cleaning agents; proper use and storage practices are required.
  • Acknowledge potential exposure to biological hazards including mold and bacteria common in restoration settings.
  • Complete all mandatory safety training sessions, including hazard communication, emergency response, and safe equipment handling.
  • Report any unsafe conditions, hazards, incidents, or injuries to supervisors without fear of retaliation.
  • Familiarize with emergency procedures such as evacuation routes and emergency contacts.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Perform tasks requiring walking, bending, reaching, crouching, kneeling, climbing, squatting, crawling, lifting above shoulder, and twisting.
  • Prolonged sitting or standing required in office, driving, and/or at job sites, with regular alternation.
  • Engage in continuous repetitive motion tasks involving hands, wrists, or arms (e.g., typing, data entry).
  • Operate machinery and tools requiring fine motor skills and hand‑eye coordination.
  • Maintain clear vision for close work, computer use, and eye‑hand coordination.
