The Joint Customer Service Lobby is a collaborative partnership between the Clark County Assessor, Auditor, and Treasurer offices. It provides residents with a streamlined and supportive experience for various essential government services. We are seeking candidates who are passionate about public service, excel at customer service and interpersonal communication, thrive in a fast-paced, team-based environment, are eager to learn and apply state and local government policies and procedures, and are motivated to grow and succeed in a career-oriented role.

As a Customer Service Specialist I, you will perform a wide variety of administrative and customer service duties. This is an entry-level position within a structured career progression path (Customer Service Specialist I–III), offering growth and advancement based on your dedication and performance. Most new hires are expected to advance to Customer Service Specialist II within 12–18 months.

You will begin in your “home” office—the Assessor’s Office—and, once you are confident in those responsibilities, receive cross-training in both the Auditor’s and Treasurer’s Office. This is a Local 11 position.

Qualifications One to two years of related work experience required. Experience working in a high volume, direct customer contact service environment preferred.

Experience processing technical work such as interpretation and explanation of complex regulations to customers preferred. Associate’s degree in business or related field preferred.

Other combinations of education, training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.

Knowledge of:

General office procedures and best practices in a public service environment

Proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and standard formatting in written communication

Clerical procedures related to document processing, data entry, and administrative support

Filing and records management systems

Business English for professional communication

Common PC applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and database software

Basic bookkeeping and/or cashiering procedures (as required by the position)
Ability to:

Operate standard office equipment (e.g., computers, phones, copiers, fax machines) efficiently

Exercise sound judgment and make independent decisions within defined guidelines and procedures

Remain calm and professional while resolving challenging or emotionally charged customer interactions

Accurately follow oral and written instructions

Communicate effectively and clearly, both in person and in writing

Learn and consistently follow established office routines and regulatory requirements

Build and maintain effective, respectful working relationships with colleagues and the public

Provide courteous, empathetic service in a high-volume, face-to-face customer setting

Sit or stand for prolonged periods while performing routine and repetitive tasks

Apply policies and procedures consistently, including when handling unique or unclear situations

Explain applicable laws and regulations (e.g., Revised Code of Washington [RCW], Washington Administrative Code [WAC]) to customers in a clear and understandable manner

Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Customer Service Specialist performs a variety of administrative and customer service tasks to support the daily operations of the office. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Administrative Support Provides general administrative support using computer software and office equipment

Prepares and completes routine forms, reports, correspondence, requisitions, and other documents using word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications

Proofreads documents for formatting, grammar, and accuracy

Retrieves data from computer systems and compiles routine reports from various sources
