Montessori Assistant Teacher II – Overview
As a Montessori Assistant Teacher at Bezos Academy, you will support lead teachers in creating a child‑led learning environment that fosters cognitive, language, emotional, social, and physical growth for preschoolers. Your role includes implementing Montessori‑inspired activities, preparing and maintaining a safe, organized classroom, and supporting children’s independence and developmental milestones.

Schedule, Compensation, and Benefits- Full‑time (40 hours per week) with variable school hours typically 8 AM‑5:30 PM (no more than 8 consecutive hours)
- Hourly pay $26–$36 (expected $29–$32 based on experience); annual range $54,000–$74,000
- Paid time: 32 days of scheduled breaks, 3 personal days, 9 sick days, 10 holidays and additional legally required leave

- One of the following:
Four years of professional experience as an aide/assistant/lead teacher for children from infancy to third grade,
Two years of experience plus an associate’s degree
, or a bachelor’s degree - Primary Montessori teaching credential from a MACTE‑accredited institution or intent to obtain one within two years of hire (can be earned via Bezos Academy’s free Primary teacher coursework)
- State‑required background checks, TB screening, and training to supervise children independently
- Ability to lift 40 lb and to supervise children safely outdoors and indoors
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance required
- Associate’s degree or higher in education or a related field
- Experience teaching in a Montessori preschool
- Experience with children who have special needs
- Experience working with families in low‑income communities
- Assist lead teachers in planning and delivering Montessori lessons for individual and small groups
- Observe children daily to assess skills, interests, and developmental needs
- Encourage literacy, math, and problem‑solving through hands‑on activities supporting kindergarten readiness
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment that promotes independence
- Support children in daily living skills: personal hygiene, meal preparation, feeding, and classroom routines
- Document child progress and developmental milestones
- Provide support to children with diverse learning needs and implement behavior or support plans as needed
- Assist with school‑wide operations such as cleaning, pantry prep, nap transitions, and policy enforcement
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and family conferences
- Maintain professional growth by completing the Primary Montessori credential within two years if not yet credentialed
