Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Kent, WA

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting K-12 students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant, inclusive school setting. This position offers the chance to make a meaningful difference for young learners, working one-on-one or in small group settings to facilitate communication and full participation in classroom activities. Youll be based at a single campus, allowing you to develop strong connections with students, faculty, and staff throughout the academic year.

• Valid Washington Sign Language Interpreter certification required
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience in educational or youth-focused interpreting preferred
• Comfortable collaborating with teachers, staff, and families
• Strong commitment to supporting students access to instruction and school life
• Adaptable, reliable, and capable of working independently

• Interpret spoken language into sign language (and vice versa) for students, teachers, and school staff during classes, assemblies, and school events
• Ensure accurate, impartial, and confidential communication at all times
• Support instructional goals, adapting to different classroom subjects and age groups (primarily K-12)
• Collaborate closely with educators to promote student engagement and inclusion
• Maintain logs and documentation as required by school policies

• Contract runs from September 2nd through June 17th, covering the full academic year
• 32.5 hours per week at one school siteno multi-site travel required
