SummaryThe Senior Regulatory & Compliance Engineer serves as the primary technical authority for product regulatory compliance across Nice North America’s portfolio. This role owns regulatory strategy, certification execution, and ongoing compliance maintenance for hardware and software-enabled products spanning security, access control, automation products, and gate/door automation systems. As the sole regulatory engineer supporting multiple product lines, this individual must operate independently, provide senior-level judgment, and partner closely with engineering, product management, operations, and external certification bodies to ensure products meet global regulatory requirements and timelines.
Location: Carlsbad, CA or Kent, WA (onsite required)
Salary range: $110,000 to $160,000, depending on both experience and location.
Primary Responsibilities- Serve as the primary regulatory and compliance owner for North America–based product development programs
- Interpret and translate regulatory standards into clear, actionable requirements for engineering teams
- Provide early-phase regulatory risk assessment and design guidance to minimize late-stage compliance issues
- Lead and coordinate product certification and approval activities with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs) and competent authorities
- Obtain and maintain required regulatory marks for target markets, including UL, CSA, FCC, and ISED
- Manage relationships with NRTLs such as UL, CSA, Intertek, and accredited test laboratories
- Develop and execute pre-compliance and formal compliance test plans (EMC, EMI, RF, Safety)
- Define test modes, configurations, and sample requirements; support and witness testing as needed
- Prepare and submit regulatory application packages and technical documentation
- Maintain certifications, listings, and regulatory files across the product lifecycle
- Support and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) with regulatory impact
- Manage NRTL factory inspections, surveillance audits, and corrective actions
- Partner with hardware, firmware, and system engineering teams during design and validation
- Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturing partners, and operations to ensure continuity of compliance
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership
- Implements and maintains department policies and standards
- Understand, support and execute all work according to the established procedures of the organization

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical discipline
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in product regulatory compliance, certification, or safety engineering
- Knowledge of applicable safety and regulatory certifications (e.g., UL, FCC, ISED, NRTLs).
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply agency standards and translate them into engineering requirements
