Control Systems Programmer
The Control Systems Programmer develops software supporting new machine control systems, re‑programs existing machine control systems, provides input to detailed control system specifications, generates control system documentation, and supports the company’s development of new automation applications.
Functions and Responsibilities- Work with the Automation Engineer and the end customer to develop detailed control system functional specification.
- Architect control system software.
- Support the creation of project time and effort estimates.
- Test, troubleshoot, and debug systems in coordination with Control Systems Technicians and Automation Engineers.
- Develop and maintain company’s supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system.
- Knowledge of basic hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems as related to control systems and automation.
- Education requirement: Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
- Year of experience: 5‑7 years’ experience programming controls for safety‑critical physical systems (for example, industrial equipment, medical devices, or vehicle electronics).
- 5‑7 years’ experience programming in modern object‑oriented languages.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit. The employee frequently is required to use hands to operate a computer and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Also expected of the employee is regular attendance, the ability to work cooperatively and professionally with others and members of the public, and the ability to manage multiple tasks rnight long‑distance travel may be required, based on the individual needs of the position.
