Position Summary
Commissioning & Maintenance Specialist responsible for commissioning, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Plug Power products including hydrogen storage infrastructure, electrolyzers, and stationary equipment at various customer sites across Olympia, WA, Salem, OR, and Columbus, OH. Heavy travel (up to 100%). Requires mechanical aptitude and familiarity with industrial hydrogen systems. Must be on‑call to maintain hydrogen production around the clock and communicate effectively with cross‑functional departments and customer stakeholders.
Core Duties and Responsibilities- Travel as needed to customer sites to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, test, and commission Plug Power products.
- Lead high‑level service repair projects on existing hydrogen infrastructure, including specialized procedures such as liquid tank repairs and vacuum jacket line repairs.
- Provide training to first responders, customers, and Plug service personnel on troubleshooting, maintenance, and service of hydrogen infrastructure.
- Support commissioning and ongoing maintenance and operation of industrial hydrogen infrastructure by interpreting electrical wiring schematics, performing point‑to‑point functionality testing, pressure testing of piping systems per ASME standards, and troubleshooting program issues with engineering assistance.
- Inspect process piping systems for pressure ratings, fittings, and other specifications, and document results from system testing and commissioning.
- Create, track, and close out project task lists.
- Apply knowledge of environmental impact on equipment function and performance, safely operate and control combustibles, diagnose system problems, read and interpret construction drawings and P&IDs, and maintain safety focus.
- Interact professionally and effectively with customers and external vendors while working independently with minimal supervision.
- Adapt to changing requirements, meet project commitments, and share ideas about process improvements and cost‑saving measures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in construction, repair, or maintenance in an electrical, industrial, or mechanical field.
- Associate’s degree or vocational degree in engineering, electronics, pressurized systems, or similar (preferred). In lieu of a degree, an additional two years of relevant experience may substitute.
- Up‑to‑date travel ability (up to 100%) and willingness to be on‑call.
- Industrial gas or high‑pressure systems experience.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
- High skill in mechanical systems installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Diagnostic ability to isolate root cause of failures.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office for reporting and correspondence.
