** Job Description

Summary:

** Provides hands-on support to Engineering/Production/Manufacturing by performing activities such as, test, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of electro/mechanical systems. Applications may include electronic circuits, power distribution, life/vehicle critical safety systems and battery systems. Work is performed from schematics, diagrams, written descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble-shooting functions. Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment.

Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.  Performs work in both Laboratory setting as well as work on manufacturing floor or on vehicle depending on manufacturing needs.

* Job Description:

** This role is part of the Engines, In-Space Systems and Test Ops group and is in Kent but supports all Business Units and groups across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a hardworking team of technicians, you will assemble, repair, and evaluate electrical and mechanical assemblies for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the production, evaluation, and development of Flight-grade Avionics. Work in the Avionics Hardware Lab requires a high level of technical proficiency in work such as soldering, component-level board work, mechanical assembly, and assembly wiring.
** Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
*** Building a variety of different harnesses and often rapidly shift focus from project to project, requiring a flexible mentality.
* Often assisting with new designs; working directly with engineering to determine standard processes and to vet new designs for improvement opportunities prior to production.
* Provide feedback on new assemblies, identifying needed improvements to existing designs and improving or updating outdated designs.
* Serve internal and external customers, across multiple systems and multiple platforms. Each Technician is a valued part of the chain that supports safe, affordable, and regular human spaceflight.
* A focus on safety, collaboration and quality allows us to work together to determine the best path forward, balancing speed and safety to create high quality components that will propel future astronauts and payloads into space for the improvement of humanity.

* Minimum Qualifications:

*** Familiarity with fabricating, inspecting, and repairing wire harness assemblies.
* Prior experience with standard harnessing tools as well as measuring and layout of assembly.

Experience with wire stripping, crimping, and splicing using both manual and automated processes.
* Experience with using testing/trouble shooting tools such as a digital multi-meter, milli-ohm meter, insulation tester or Hi-Pot test equipment.
* At least 3 years’ experience in Aerospace Avionics or related fields.
* Attention to detail and passion for space.
* Familiarity with torquing procedures, sizing fasteners and harness assembly/disassembly.
* Experience and capability to interface with software systems such as Microsoft Office Suite.
