This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Job Description:

Provides hands-on support to Engineering/Production/Manufacturing by performing activities such as, test, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of RF Antennas, IR/Visible Light cameras and LIDAR systems for the Lunar Vehicles.  Work may include PCBA assembly or rework, internal cable harness fabrication, precision assembly of optical/laser components and general mechanical assembly.  Work is performed from schematics, diagrams, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble-shooting functions.

Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.  Performs work in both Laboratory setting as well as work on manufacturing floor or on vehicle depending on manufacturing needs.

This role is part of the Engines, In-Space Systems and Test Ops group and is in Kent but supports the Lunar Permanence group.

As part of a hardworking team of technicians, you will assemble, repair, and evaluate electrical and mechanical assemblies. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the production, evaluation, and development of flight grade Lunar Avionics assemblies. Work in the Lab requires a high level of technical proficiency in work such as soldering, component-level board work, mechanical assembly, and assembly wiring.

** Responsibilities include but not limited to:
*** Building different components and assemblies for Lunar in all different environments (development, test and flight) depending on the specific product line.
* Assisting with assembly of new and updated designs by working directly with engineering to determine best practices for assembly or updating work instructions.
* Giving regular input on manufacturing improvement opportunities or build changes leading to more efficient assembly.
* Serve both internal and external customers across multiple systems and multiple platforms; each Technician is a valued part of the chain.
* A focus on safety, collaborative teamwork, and quality allows us to work together to determine the best path forward, balancing speed and safety to create high-quality components that will propel future astronauts and payloads into space for the improvement of mankind.

* Minimum Qualifications:

*** Familiarity working in an ESD EPA and with tool control/accountability processes.
* Experience using standard electronics assembly tools, hand soldering and basic electronic test equipment (multimeters and power supplies).
* Experience with applying torque to fasteners/components.
* Fabricating, terminating, and repair/testing of wire harnesses.
* 3 or more years’ experience in Aerospace Avionics or related fields.
* Experience inspecting and certifying work performed to relevant standards and specifications.
* Attention to detail and passion for space.
* Able to lift 50 lbs.
* Ability to work a 40-hour work week (4x10’s) with occasional overtime to support launch schedules.
* Experience with application and removal of polymerics (staking, potting. Encapsulation and conformal coating).

* Preferred Qualifications:

*** 5-7 years of experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly fabrication, CCA or PCBA repair or component replacement.
* Experience with RF assemblies, camera optical systems and LIDAR systems.
* Clean Room Experience; specifically, Class 7 Operations
* Certification in and/or knowledge of IPC standards for assembly and inspection to include J-STD/J-STD Space, 610, 7711/7721 Rework and 620/620 Space Addendum.
* Laser experience: similar to optical system, laser safety, and laser output characterization measurements.
* Perform calibration and characterization of imaging systems: MTF, distortion, color accuracy, stray light performance
* Perform assembly and fine alignment of optical elements:  + Inspect optical components for defects such as scratches, chips, and contamination, and identify non-conformances.  + Apply adhesives and epoxies.  + Verify optical performance using test equipment (lens alignment stations, alignment telescopes, theodolites, interferometers, collimators).
