At Algas-SDI,the Research & Development Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and improving products, technologies, and processes to support the company's innovation and growth objectives. This hands-on role includes design, analysis, testing, while leading technical research, prototype development, and product testing to deliver high-quality solutions that meet customer requirements and industry standards. The position works cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams and plays a key role in moving concepts through the product development lifecycle from ideations through commercialization.

What you'll do
  • Design and develop new products, systems, including building prototypes and supporting testing and validation.
  • Create product concepts, feasibility studies, and engineering designs
  • Create CAD models, drawings and layouts in Solid Works to support new designs and product improvements.
  • Run basic engineering calculations and apply mechanical, thermal, and flow fundamentals to guide design decisions.
  • Support product development through full lifecycle - from concept and prototype builds to testing, production, and release
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, operations, and supply chain to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
  • Review test results, troubleshoot technical issues, and identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, and cost.
What makes you a great fit
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
  • 3-8 years of experience in engineering, preferably in R&D or product development
  • Proficiency in Solid Works (part modeling and assemblies)
  • Hands-on experience with prototype builds, testing, and validation
  • Strong foundation in engineering fundamentals (mechanical, thermal, fluid, or systems)
  • Ability to follow structured test plans and clearly document results
  • Experience in industrial equipment environments (preferred)
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites, suppliers, or field installations as needed
