Job Description
The Environmental Technician safely consolidates, treats, stores, packs, transports, and disposes of hazardous waste in accordance with all applicable environmental regulations, policies, and procedures. This role supports industrial cleaning, wastewater treatment, spill response, and facility services while maintaining detailed and accurate documentation. The position offers hands-on field work, exposure to a variety of environmental services, and clear opportunities for career growth within the organization.
Responsibilities
+ Consolidate, treat, store, pack, transport, and dispose of hazardous waste in a safe and compliant manner following all environmental regulations, policies, and procedures.
+ Perform industrial cleaning and pressure washing activities in industrial and facility environments.
+ Support wastewater treatment operations as directed, ensuring safe and compliant handling of materials.
+ Participate in spill response activities, including containment, cleanup, and proper waste management.
+ Perform general facility services and yard work as needed to support environmental operations.
+ Complete all required documentation accurately, legibly, and on time in accordance with applicable regulations and customer policies, practices, and procedures.
+ Maintain detailed and accurate records of waste handling, treatment, storage, and transportation activities.
+ Operate equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with training and safety guidelines.
+ Work outdoors in all seasonal weather conditions and indoors in non-climate-controlled areas as required.
+ Wear and properly use company-issued personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator.
+ Follow all safety procedures, vehicle warning chimes, alarms, and hazard communications while on site.
+ Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management to support operations and customer needs.
Essential Skills
+ At least 2 years of prior experience working with hazardous materials.
+ High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
+ Ability to work safely with hazardous waste in accordance with environmental regulations and company procedures.
+ Comfort operating a variety of equipment used in environmental and industrial cleaning operations.
+ Ability to perform general labor and site cleanup tasks in industrial and outdoor settings.
+ Visual acuity sufficient to read labels, documentation, and safety information, with depth perception to work safely around equipment and vehicles.
+ Ability to hear vehicle warning chimes, alarms, and other safety signals in the work environment.
+ Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all climate conditions and indoors in non-climate-controlled conditions.
+ Willingness and ability to wear and properly use company-issued personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator.
+ Ability to complete documentation accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner.
Additional
Skills & Qualifications
+ HAZWOPER certification is a strong plus.
+ Experience in the environmental field, industrial cleaning, or yard work is beneficial.
+ Prior experience with HAZWOPER-related tasks such as site cleanup and hazardous waste handling is an advantage.
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records.
+ Reliability and willingness to perform a variety of tasks as assigned by management.
+ Interest in long-term career growth within environmental services, with opportunities to advance into leadership or operations roles.
Work Environment
This role is primarily field-based and requires working outdoors in all seasonal weather conditions, including rain, heat, cold, and varying climate conditions, as well as indoors in non-climate-controlled areas. The current schedule is 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the possibility of transitioning to a 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. shift and eventually a night shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The position involves industrial cleaning, pressure washing, wastewater treatment support, spill response, and general facility and yard work.
Team members regularly use environmental and industrial equipment and must remain attentive to vehicle warning chimes and alarms. The dress code includes company-issued personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and a respirator, which must be worn as required to ensure safety on the job. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.25 - $23.25/hr.
