OverviewThe Senior Occupational Therapist plays a pivotal senior role within the SFMHS at a time of significant growth and reform. You will facilitate a range of therapeutic interventions for adult forensic mental health consumers, promoting participation and performance in meaningful occupations through individual and group work, in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and other key stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Facilitate and evaluate therapeutic interventions for adult forensic mental health consumers.
- Provide and coordinate occupational therapy assessment and intervention services for SFMHS Allied Health Admitted Service (45 inpatient forensic beds).
- Work with community-based consumers in the SFMHS Allied Health Non‑Admitted Service who are high‑risk and experiencing severe mental illness.
- Lead and collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, allied health assistants, justice and NDIS partners to deliver integrated, evidence‑based care.
- Provide clinical supervision and support to staff, students and support staff.
- Shape clinical direction and service delivery, and help define and elevate the occupational therapy role within the evolving service.
- Advanced knowledge and experience working with high‑risk and clinically complex mental health cohorts.
- Experience with in a multidisciplinary team context.
- Skills in planning, implementing and evaluating occupational therapy services.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to write well‑structured OT reports.
- Demonstrated drive, innovation and a commitment to high quality patient care.
- Current occupational therapy licence and registration.
