Occupational Therapist to join ourteamat Medstar National Rehabilitation Hospital!
The ideal candidate will be alicensed Occupational Therapist witha high levelof problem-solving skills, the ability to work cohesively within a teamenvironmentandexcellent verbal and oral communication skills.
As an Inpatient
Occupational Therapist,you will be responsible forinitialevaluation, reevaluation, treatment planning, treatment implementation,reporting,and documentation of all referred patients within departmental and professional standards. Serves as a resource inspecifiedarea of expertise. Participates in organizing educational activities and special projects andfacilitatesstaff development.

Primary Duties:Provides effective and efficient evidence-basedcare.
Provides patient care duties as it relates to occupational therapy following accreditation guidelines, licensing regulations, professional code of ethics, and standards of practice to including evaluation/re-evaluation, treatment planning,DME (Durable Medical Equipment) recommendations and discharge planning.
Provides education to and training to patients and their families/caregivers. Accesses appropriate additional information for individualized patient care. Demonstrates sound clinical reasoning during patient care to maximize effective and safe outcomes. Completesaccurateandtimelydocumentation. Maintainsaccurateandtimelydocumentation to include clinical interventions provided, discharge and equipment recommendations, charges, and prescriptions.
Ensures documentation reflectsneedfor acute rehab level of care to include patient/ family education, training,treatmentintensityand duration. Follows Medstar National Rehabilitation Hospital documentation policy and writes legible comprehensive conference reports, patient flow sheets, time offchecklistsand all other written document sin a timely manner. Completes outcome data according to department guidelines.
Maintainsaccurateschedules for all patients and professional activities. Utilizes professional communication in decision making and problem solving, consistently communicates & conducts self in a professional manner and uses written, verbal, and non-verbal communication,appropriate tothe specific audience.
Activelyparticipatesin general staff and team meetings and communicates opportunities for process improvement thatimpactspatient care and operations. Takes initiative in pursuing and directing continuing education for professional growth and competency for self and serves as a resource and preceptor for new employee and student orientation for the Occupational Therapy Service andteam-based activities.
Participates in development and implementation of goals andobjectivesfor the program area as delegated by Clinical Supervisor or Management.
Participates inin services and continuing education programs. Disseminates continuing education information to staff and students. Participates in ongoing clinical and administrative system development, data collection, and process improvement to assureoptimalfunctioning of service area andparticipatesin peer review, program evaluation, and process improvement activities on a regular basis and for special projects.
Assistsin developing,revising,or reviewing treatment guidelines in specialtyareasas delegated by the Clinical Supervisor or Management and serves as Clinical Instructor for OT/COTA students and volunteers.
Master’s degree or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy.
Professional competency as a general practitioner of occupational therapy.
Demonstrated independent use of varied evaluation and treatment approaches.
Maybe developing advanced level competencies in one or more aspects of occupational therapy.
DC (District of Columbia) licensure or eligibility.
BLS (Basic Life Support).
This position has a hiring range of : USD $74,214.00 - USD $ /Yr.
