Position Summary

Sea Mar is seeking a Mental Health Therapist for our Behavioral Health Department in Kent, King County. Positions are available at Level II, III, or Licensed. The wage varies by level. Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree in a behavioral health field and be registered or licensed with the Washington State Department of Health.

Licensed Mental Health Therapist
  • Provides diagnostic assessments, referrals for psychiatric services, and case management in coordination with other teams.
  • Delivers care to chronically ill patients, Intensive Outpatient Program participants, and high utilizers.
  • Works with CDMHP’s and inpatient facilities, including Western State Hospital, ensuring proper protocols for hospitalization authorization and discharge planning.
  • Provides individual counseling, crisis stabilization, suicide risk assessment and treatment plans, and leads groups.
  • Offers therapy to managed care patients pre‑authorized for mental health treatment.
  • Provides clinical supervision to clinicians pursuing licensing requirements.
  • Assists Program Manager and clinical supervisor with chart reviews.
  • Supports agency compliance with WACs, RCWs, and clinical contracts.
Education and Experience (Licensed Therapist)
  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, counseling, or social work including coursework in psychological diagnostics.
  • Four or more years of clinical experience.
  • Responsible for continuing education hours and licensing fees.
  • Active approved Washington State Department of Health license at all times (Mental Health Counselor, Marriage & Family Therapist, or Independent Clinical Social Worker).
  • Eligible for Mental Health Professional (MHP) criteria.
Additional Requirements
  • Obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR within 90 days of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
  • Complete TB test annually and at time of hire.
Mental Health Therapist III
  • Provides diagnostic assessments, referrals for psychiatric services, case management in coordination with other teams.
  • Provides individual counseling, crisis stabilization, suicide risk assessment and treatment plans, and leads groups.
  • Assists Program Manager with program development, policy and procedure development, and compliance with WACs and RCWs; other administrative tasks as directed.
Education and Experience (MHT III)
  • Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or social work with coursework in psychological diagnostics.
  • Four or more years of experience.
  • Meets MHP criteria.
  • Hold active Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor License (may be pending up to 60 days if applied within 7 days of offer) or mental health Associate License (Marriage & Family Therapist, Mental Health Counselor, Clinical Social Worker).
  • Minority mental health therapist as required by WAC.
Additional Requirements
  • Maintain current TB test.
  • Obtain BLS CPR within 90 days of hire and maintain it.
Mental Health Therapist II

  • Provides individual counseling, crisis stabilization, suicide risk assessment and treatment plans, and leads groups.
  • Assists Director with program development, policy and procedure development, compliance with WACs and RCWS; other administrative tasks as directed.
Education and Experience (MHT II)
  • Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, or social work including coursework in psychological diagnostics.
  • Up to three years of experience.
  • Minority mental health therapist as required by WAC.
  • Meets MHP criteria.
  • Hold active Washington State Agency Affiliated Counselor License (may be pending up to 60 days if applied within 7 days of offer) or mental health Associate License.
Additional Requirements
  • Maintain current TB test.
  • Obtain BLS CPR within 90 days of hire and maintain it.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
