Human Resources Generalist & Payroll/Benefits Specialist (Administrative)

Our HR team is growing, and we're looking for a hands-on Generalist with a proven background in payroll and benefits who's ready to dig in, solve problems, and make a real impact.
The RoleThis is not a push-paper-and-go-home kind of job. We're looking for an innovative HR professional who can own the full spectrum of human resources - from payroll and benefits to employee relations, talent management, and compliance. You'll serve as a trusted resource for employees and leaders alike. You'll run full-cycle, end-to-end payroll and benefits administration while also supporting core HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and performance management.

What You'll Do Payroll & Benefit Duties- Run bi-monthly full-cycle payrolls in UKG Ready, including audit reports and reconciliations to make sure every number is spot-on
- Keep employee data, payroll reports, and benefit deductions accurate and up-to-date
- Proactively audit payroll and benefits data to catch errors before they become problems
- Prepare quarterly and annual benefits & tax reconciliations; maintain UKG Ready tax setup; handle state/local tax registrations and quarterly amendments (WA & OR LNI, W-2s, 1095s, and more)
- Navigate payroll and benefits audits, such as NDT, ACA, 5500 audits
- Partner with third-party vendors to research and resolve payroll issues, including union dues, pensions, and union tracking
- Be the friendly, knowledgeable resource employees turn to with payroll questions
- Manage health insurance, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, open enrollment, and COBRA programs
- Handle benefit eligibility and vendor invoicing
- Generate reports to support HR metrics and analysis
- Spot opportunities to streamline HR processes
- Stay current on federal, state, and local payroll and benefits regulations
- Jump into ad-hoc projects as the team needs
- Support recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and performance management
- Support employee engagement efforts through active involvement in the Employee Engagement and Safety Committee, contributing to workplace culture, employee well-being, and safety initiatives.
- Sserve as a knowledgeable and approachable resource for employees and leaders
- Support the leave administration and worker's compensation process
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Generate HR reports and support metrics and analysis
- Identify and drive process improvements that strengthen both operations and culture
- Contribute to ad-hoc projects as the team needs
