Position Overview
Title: Business Analyst - Journeyman
Location: Washington, DC / Hybrid
Employment Type: Contract w2/1099/C2C
Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
Required Experience: 10 years
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain an understanding of key business processes and policies for the business units, assisting with process improvements.
- Assist in the resolution of system issues to allow for timely processing of business transactions.
- Track current software trends and provide recommendations for upgrading or replacing production systems.
- Gather requirements for new or existing systems; participate as a consultant on software evaluation; serve as an analyst on the system implementation team, assisting in fit/gap analysis, system configuration, and establishing the requirements traceability matrix (RTM).
- Create test cases to ensure all requirements are tested prior to go‑live.
- Work with stakeholders, business subject matter experts, and other members of the implementation team to confirm that the system meets the needs of the District.
- Document interface control documents (ICD) needed to define interfaces into and out of the new system, as appropriate.
- Assist in documenting all re‑engineered business processes modified during the implementation process.
- Identify and document the IT roles and responsibilities for maintaining the new system once implemented.
- Provide input into project planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Assist in the development of project proposals, related financial planning, and development of a business case, including performing cost‑benefit analysis.
- Attend required training and perform all routine administrative responsibilities expected.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in Business Analysis within financial/accounting applications.
- Practical application ability with Microsoft Office, Project, and Visio.
- Strong analytical abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Mathematics, Finance, or Accounting.
