Why we need you and what you will be responsible for:

With a record high backlog of boats to build, we are seeking a passionate, committed Environmental, Health and Safety leader to act as the Subject Matter Expert to identify, implement, and sustain efforts related to both ensuring company compliance but as importantly that the health and safety of our Team is our highest priority. This role oversees the day-to-day management of projects, efforts, and activities related to contributing to the health and safety of SAFE Boats 300+ Employee Owners.

You will work closely with Production (and other) leadership as a coach and partner to ensure everyone “owns safety” at SAFE Boats. You will ensure the Company is adhering to all Environmental regulations and fulfilling the Core Value of Stewardship as it relates to the environment in exceeding federal, OSHA, state and local, and other laws and requirements.

What you will be doing:
  • Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace. Survey to identify and evaluate occupational health, safety and environmental conditions. Conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. Provide advice and counsel concerning all city, state, and federal compliance regulations and right-to-know programs.
  • Implements controls for identifying hazards. Coordinate the implementation of controls from results of hazard analysis. Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures and recommend changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate workplace accidents and injuries.
  • Manage Workers Compensation programs: for the benefit of injured team members and financial controls of premiums. Manage the worker comp retroactive program.
  • Works closely with Team Members to mitigate physical concerns related to personal injuries that could impair work performance or be aggravated by work activities- suggesting stretches, coaching on ergonomics, to potentially scheduling tele health meetings.
  • Direct or assist in the development of specialized education and training materials. Conduct specialized safety and environmental training programs to communicate hazard control information.
  • Conducts pre-employment drug testing for applicants.
  • Creates, updates, and facilitates New Hire Orientation for new team members, educating on occupational health, safety and environmental standards and expectations.
  • Identifies topics, agenda, and conducts / Co-leads Safety Committee meetings.
  • Identifies topics, agenda, and conducts monthly meetings for department Leads/Leadership.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret accident, loss, and exposure statistical data; prepare comprehensive recommendations for corrective action to eliminate or minimize potential hazards. Review injury and property damage reports.
  • Responsible for the overall administration of workers’ compensation programs, Private insurance and State-run programs.
