The Senior Production Planner / Master Scheduler is a hands-on leadership role responsible for building and executing complex production schedules in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires credibility, influence, and energy to rebuild trust, improve planning maturity, and move the organization “off the launch pad.”

How This Role Spends Time
  • 30–40%: Partnering with Sales at the bottom of the funnel as demand solidifies
  • 20%: Working with Engineering on lead times and shepherding orders from sales through shipping
  • 30%: Forecasting, S&OP ownership, tool development, and supply chain alignment
Key Responsibilities
  • Own and optimize the Master Production Schedule (MPS)
  • Build accurate schedules with multiple variables, including external processing
  • Apply takt time, lead time, and cycle time expertise to improve flow and delivery
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Sales to resolve constraints
  • Build trust and influence through strong communication—not just tools
  • Recommend and help implement improved planning tools and processes
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small planning team
Requirements
  • 5+ years in manufacturing production planning/scheduling
  • Must show career growth and ability to gain credibility quickly
  • Less experience acceptable if from a high-growth, high-action environment
  • Experience in mechanical or moving line assembly environments
  • Strong expertise in takt time, lead time, and cycle time
  • Experience with medium to high scheduling complexity
  • Ready to lead and mentor a small team
  • Strong relationship-building and solution-oriented mindset
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP/MRP systems
  • High energy, ownership mindset, and drive to elevate planning
