Summary
The Assembler I performs general assembly of mechanical and/or electronic subassemblies and products. This role involves using hand tools and machines, and ensuring quality standards are met.
Pay rate: $21.00 per hour
Primary Responsibilities- Use tools to make or repair parts and products.
- Interpret technical documents, such as diagrams, schematics, blueprints, or other verbal or written instructions.
- Work with other members of the line or group in order to assemble products at takt rate.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Identify any defective items and handle according to established procedures.
- Take precision measurements to ensure perfect fit of components.
- Maintain supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies.
- Document actions by completing production and quality forms.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Organize and maintain raw materials and work in process within the work area.
- Implement and maintain department policies and standards.
- Other Duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 1-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong written communication and verbal skills.
- Ability to use reason to solve problems as they arise and identify areas for improvement.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to multi-task and to retain skills and knowledge.
- Technical knowledge and ability to read blueprints and drawings.
- Ability to work both individually and in groups.
- Apply good judgment and follow directions.
- Proven ability to multi-task, set project priorities, establish department/discipline goals and objectives for self.
- Ability to use a computer, including Microsoft applications (i.e. Excel, Word, PPT, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail and written/verbal communication skills.
- Ability to either stand or sit for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, push, pull, reach, grab, turn, twist, and/or stoop.
- Ability to grab small parts or hand tools with hands.
- Proven ability to multi-task, set project priorities, goals and objectives for self.
- Ability to effectively & professionally communicate with co-workers, customers and vendors.
Essential functions of this job require the following minimal physical demands. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable the individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Required to sit, talk or hear; frequently required to use hands to grip or feel; and occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Vision and depth perception suitable for use of utilizing machinery and/or a computer.
- Manual dexterity suitable for use of utilizing machinery and/or a computer.
- Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes which permits the employee to work in a warehouse.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50-75 lbs.
- Ability to sit and stand up to 20-70% of the time comfortably, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be comfortable working in a complex production machining and assembly environment.
- The working area is primarily in a manufacturing environment located around machines and heavy equipment such as a forklift or pallet operator.
- Operation of the machine requires working with, and coming into contact with, various materials and substances.
- Willingness to wear finger cots, masks, and/or safety vest.
- Working temperatures may vary from hot, cold, humid, wet or dry.
- Working hours may be extended and weekends may be required in order to meet manufacturing needs.
