About the Position: Maintenance Mechanics must have a strong working background in the repair of pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical, PLCs, servos, and vacuum equipment/machinery. Mechanics are expected to work with the plants CMMS system. Mechanics must also be good communicators and willing to be part of a team environment. Mechanics must understand the concept of Lean Manufacturing.
Schedule- Maintenance Mechanic
- 2nd Shift: Approximately (1:30pm – 10:00pm), Tuesday - Saturday, days may change due to company’s needs.
WAGE: Hourly range for this position is $30.00 - $34.00 per hour DOE, plus $1.00 for shift differential for working 2nd shift.
Primary ResponsibilitiesMay do any one of the following:
- Understands electrical schematics and a proficiency at operating a variety of hand and power tools.
- Understands the concept of CMMS.
- Maintain the operation of production lines by providing simple “on-line” repairs on all packaging/processing lines, which consist of the following equipment:
- Conveyors
- Code Daters (Thermal & Ink jet)
- Basic Computer skills
- Slicing Equipment
- Stuffing and Grinding equipment
- Ishida Scales
- Metal Detectors
- Vertical/Horizontal Form Fill Seal
- Boiler
- NH3 systems
- Air compressors/Vacuum Pumps
- Plant lighting and electrical.
- Smokehouses
- Troubleshoot the source of the equipment failure and to then adjust, repair or replace parts as needed using standard hand and power tools, including specialty tools such as volt-Ohm Meter. Performs these tasks at the request of the Lead Mechanic, Maintenance Mechanic, or Production Personnel.
- At the commencement of the shift, consult the production schedule for the day and set up the machines accordingly.
- Report to Lead and/or Maintenance Supervisor with any reasons for delaying shift starts.
- Responsible for submitting any parts requisition forms for low inventoried or non-inventoried stock.
- May be required to fabricate a needed part if availability is limited by use of grinder, drill press, band saw and MIG or TIG welding equipment.
- Reports to the Lead Mechanic, Maintenance Supervisor for the assignment of non-emergency repairs such as machine overhauling or preventative maintenance during down time.
- General preventative maintenance
- High School (minimum)
- 2 years college preferred but not required.
- Experienced in pneumatics, mechanical, refrigeration, boiler, and electrical repairs.
- 3 years’ experience in the maintenance field, 1 of which are in the food or manufacturing industry.
- 3 years plumbing or general facilities repair experience.
- 3 years pneumatics and hydraulics experience.
- Understand PLC wiring and ladder logic (training class or work experience).
- Familiarity with HACCP (OJT)
- Understanding and compliance with all GMPs (OJT)
- Understanding and compliance with all personal safety rules (OJT)
- Required to purchase and maintain their own quality hand tools.
- Maintaining quality hand tools requires that they keep all tools clean, sanitary, rust free and in good working order.
- Understands LOTO and Confined Space.
- Able to wire and phase high voltage motors and machines up to 480v.
- Proficient at wiring control circuits of all voltages and types, including motor starters, frequency controllers and start-stop circuits.
- Proficient at wiring and understanding NPN, PNP devices.
- Able to read blueprints and schematics.
