Position
Production Technician – Quality Assurance – Kent, WA
Schedule and CompensationHours:
6:30 am – 3:00 pm (shift
1). Wage: $19.00 – $20.00 per hour (starting at $19.00).
- Ensure meat, dates, tape, labels, and other supplies are correct per product specifications.
- Pull random samples and perform leaker checks on bags, operating the fish tank to observe leaks.
- Record leaker data and inform the machine operator, department leader, and QA Tech 2/3 if any leakers are discovered.
- Inspect bags to help eliminate or reduce product waste or rework; inspections may include hourly weight or count checks, oxygen level tests, and printed information verification (e.g., allergen statements).
- Raise any quality concerns to the operator, packaging lead, or QA Tech immediately.
- Maintain the fish tank and other packaging quality check equipment in a sanitary manner.
- Record quality data for directed tasks.
- Perform calibration verification checks of the in-line check weighers.
- Perform verification checks on the in-line metal and ageless detectors.
- Gather samples and perform MPR analysis per written procedures.
- Gather samples and perform AW (water activity) analysis per written procedures.
- Gather samples and perform PH (acidity/alkalinity) analysis per written procedures.
- Ensure sanitary handling procedures in all activities.
- Inform Management of any Food Safety or Quality issues or non‑compliance with specified requirements.
- Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
- Maintain accountability to Oberto Brands Food Safety and Quality Principles.
- Support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF 2000 Systems.
- The PI Tech is backed up by Packaging Machine Operator or Production Lead.
- The PI Tech backs up the Packager 1.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with Quality Assurance (preferred).
- Understanding and compliance with all GMPs (through OJT).
- Understanding and compliance with all personal safety rules (through OJT).
- Familiarity with HACCP (through OJT).
- Ability to work with others to accomplish team goals.
- Ability to use discretion and judgment.
- Ability to read weights and counts.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Basic reading and verbal communication in English; record numbers accurately.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Must be able to lift at least 35 lbs.
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Physical work includes climbing stairs, pulling hoses, etc.
- Willing to work in varying temperature environment.
- Ability to handle heavy objects safely, lift and/or move up to 25 lbs and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to frequently talk, hear, and smell.
- Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Work in a processing environment with hazardous machinery, materials, chemicals, wet floors, and wet equipment; high voltage, hot water, and steam may be present.
