Job Summary

The Robotics Hardware Technicians 1 & 2 are entry‑to‑mid‑level positions focused on hands‑on support for robotic hardware systems and preparing individuals for future growth.

Tech 1 assists with basic assembly, wiring, and installation under close supervision. It is designed for individuals building their foundation in robotics, emphasizing safety, learning, and strict adherence to established work instructions.

Tech 2 is a more experienced independent technician capable of executing routine assembly and maintenance tasks. This position requires the ability to read basic schematics, perform preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot common mechanical or electrical issues without constant supervision.

Ideal candidates should be comfortable traveling 60‑70% of the time between Seattle, WA and Spokane, WA. Applicants who can also travel for short‑term work (up to a 90‑day trip) in Germany or other non‑US locations are encouraged. ASE/Mechanic certificate holders are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with assembly, wiring, and installation of robotic systems, integrate and fit‑check robotic mechanical prototypes (brackets, frames, linkages, gearboxes, bearings, linear guides, end‑effectors, etc.)
  • Fabricate, modify, and finish simple mechanical parts and fixtures using tools such as a drill press, band saw, bench grinders, taps/dies, and hand tools.
  • Operate and perform basic daily preventative maintenance on robotic workcells and prototypes.
  • Conduct mechanical fit, form, and function testing; measure and verify dimensions, clearances, runout, backlash, and alignment using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and height gauges.
  • Install and torque fasteners to specification and apply thread‑locking compounds.
  • Build and rig test fixtures, jigs, and mock‑ups for durability, impact, and life‑cycle testing of mechanical components.
  • Tech 2 level responsibilities:
    Perform routine preventative maintenance and repairs, replace worn components, verify robot operation after service, collect data and take measurements for reliability testing; diagnose and resolve common mechanical or electrical issues (faulty sensors, wiring problems, misalignment, minor mechanical failures); adjust and jog robot axis positions, perform I/O checks to support production or R&D tests, verify configurations against known values and report discrepancies.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe mechanical shop and assembly area; track and reorder mechanical consumables and spares, help track and organize hardware inventory.
  • Actively participate in promoting a safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with fellow technicians, management, and contract partners to provide clear communication, timely updates, and exceptional customer service.
  • Document maintenance, repairs, and configuration changes clearly in logs or ticketing systems; provide feedback to engineers on recurring hardware issues; track, document and manage assigned tasks and identified issues.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0‑2 years of experience; we will train.
  • Ability to pass a background check and client hire requirements.

  • Ability to use hand and power tools to assemble hardware components.
