Chemical Maintenance Technician
This role provides critical support to production by maintaining process solutions within specification through precise chemical additions and bath replacements. The technician also ensures environmental compliance by operating wastewater treatment systems and safely preparing, handling, and storing hazardous materials for proper off-site disposal.
Responsibilities- Support production departments by maintaining process solutions within specified parameters through accurate chemical additions, bath splits, and bath replacements.
- Perform routine and corrective maintenance on chemical levels in tanks to ensure they remain within specification.
- Operate pumps to perform chemical maintenance on plating and anodize lines in a safe and efficient manner.
- Work closely with experienced technicians and department leads to complete work assignments and prioritize tasks based on operational needs.
- Properly handle, store, label, and prepare hazardous materials for safe and compliant off-site disposal.
- Operate forklifts and pallet jacks to move chemicals and hazardous materials safely throughout the facility.
- Accurately measure liquid and solid materials using appropriate tools and methods to support process control and chemical maintenance.
- Perform industrial wastewater treatment activities to help maintain environmental compliance and proper waste and wastewater handling.
- Follow established Quality Assurance requirements and document work as required.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and precautions while performing daily duties, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Communicate clearly in English with coworkers, customers, and auditors to support operations and compliance activities.
- Maintain a regular and dependable attendance record to support continuous production and treatment operations.
- Complete pre-employment and annual physical examinations and wear a respirator when required for specific tasks.
- Follow additional related duties as assigned to support production, maintenance, and environmental compliance.
- Ability to properly handle, store, and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety and environmental requirements.
- Ability to accurately measure liquid and solid materials using appropriate tools and procedures.
- Ability to perform maintenance on chemical levels in tanks, including chemical additions and bath splits, to keep solutions within specification.
- Ability to operate pumps to perform chemical maintenance on plating and anodize lines.
- Ability to operate forklifts and pallet jacks to safely move chemicals and hazardous materials.
- Ability to follow established Quality Assurance requirements and procedures.
- Ability to follow safety precautions consistently while performing all duties.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English with other employees, customers, and auditors.
- Ability to meet pre-employment and annual physical exam requirements and wear a respirator when required.
- Ability to maintain regular and dependable attendance to support ongoing operations.
- Authorization to work in the U.S., with the ability to obtain an export license as required to work in all areas of the facility.
Skills & Qualifications
- 1–2 years of experience in industrial wastewater treatment and/or a manufacturing environment is a plus.
- 2–5 years of experience in hazardous materials handling, industrial wastewater treatment, and waste and wastewater treatment handling is preferred but not required.
- Experience with wastewater operations, chemical handling, and hazardous materials (haz mat) is beneficial.
- HAZWOPER certification is preferred but not required.
- Experience working in a manufacturing facility environment is advantageous.
