This is a Level III Inspector position in our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) department. Employees in this position are certified as an NDT Level III Inspector with a clear career path to supervisory responsibilities within approximately 12-24 months.

The successful candidate will need to recertify for Hytek as a Level III certified inspector under the guidance of the Responsible Level III. After certification, the candidate will continue developing technical and leadership skills to prepare for promotion to eventual supervision of the NDT department as part of our succession plan.

Responsibilities

Initial Responsibilities (Level III Inspector)

  • Provide a copy of NAS-410 Level III Certificate(s) in Magnetic Particle and/or Liquid Penetrant, including employer-provided OJT hours for qualification.
  • Work closely with experienced Inspectors and the Responsible Level III to complete work and prioritize tasks.
  • Follow technique cards, customer Purchase Orders, and instructions from experienced NDT Inspectors; ensure Operator Self Verification inspection has occurred.
  • Review paperwork and verify previous operations; notify supervisor and QA of any errors.
  • Prepare parts prior to operations using proper tooling and fixtures.
  • Understand Quality Assurance requirements and rework procedures.
  • Interpret engineering drawing notations.
  • Develop new product processing and identify areas for improvement.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities to drive productivity, delivery, and service.
  • Coordinate with other departments to meet customer demand.
  • Other duties as assigned, including cross‑training in other production areas as workflow demands.

Future Responsibilities (Responsible Level III and NDT Supervisor)

  • Interpret codes, standards, and contractual documents that control NDT methods.
  • Assume technical responsibility for the NDT facility and staff.
  • Select appropriate methods and techniques for specific inspections.
  • Prepare and verify adequacy of procedures and work instructions.
  • Approve NDT procedures and work instructions for technical accuracy.
  • Train, qualify, and certify all levels of NDT inspectors.
  • Maintain control of the NDT training program, including designating qualified examiners and instructors.
  • Administer and grade all NDT examinations.
  • Maintain and update company NDT procedures and stay current with NDT technology.
  • Approve all NDT technique cards and controlled (frozen) planning.
  • Review and approve purchases of NDT equipment and calibration documents.
  • Support process audits and lead external NADCAP audits.
  • Act as process owner for all NDT processes and oversee training/succession planning within the department.
  • Serve as Supervisor to all NDT personnel, including off shifts, and a supervisor in the FAA Repair Station.
  • Ensure resources, staffing, and training plans meet production schedules and customer demand.
