Specialty Metals Corporation is a metal distributor and processor based in Kent, WA, serving customers in Seattle, Auburn, and surrounding communities since 1981. Our company supplies a wide range of materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, carbon, titanium, nickel alloys, alloy steel, and other specialty metals, along with processing capabilities such as waterjet and laser cutting, shearing, forming, machining, and other value-added services.
We deliver both raw materials and finished products.
The Inside Sales Representative – Metals & Fabrication role is a full-time, on-site role located in Kent, WA. The Inside Sales Representative will review customer RFQs, drawings, specifications, and material requirements; develop accurate quotes; process customer orders; communicate inventory availability and lead times; and coordinate with our internal teams and outside processors to provide complete solutions for our customers. This is a fast-paced, detail-oriented position that requires strong customer service skills, technical aptitude, accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple quotes and orders simultaneously.
Salary range: $31.00–$38.00 per hour
Eligible for quarterly incentives based on company performance.

- Respond to customer requests for quotations for metal products and value-added processing services, developing accurate pricing, lead times, and delivery expectations.
- Review customer drawings, specifications, material requirements, and tolerances to determine appropriate materials and processing methods.
- Verify material availability, processing requirements, customer specifications, and delivery requirements prior to quoting and order entry.
- Convert approved quotes into accurate sales orders and maintain a high level of accuracy across quotes, sales orders, and customer records.
- Work closely with purchasing, production, quality, shipping, and outside processors to coordinate customer requirements and resolve issues.
- Develop strong customer relationships by promoting Specialty Metals’ products, inventory, and processing capabilities and identifying solutions that support customer needs.
- Proactively follow up on quotes and orders to gather feedback, address concerns, and identify additional sales opportunities.
- Communicate order status, lead times, material availability, and potential schedule or processing challenges to customers.
- Coordinate with the accounting department to ensure customer accounts are in good standing prior to processing large or expedited orders.
- Manage order revisions and change requests, ensuring updates are accurately documented and communicated to customers and internal teams.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience in metals, manufacturing, aerospace, fabrication, machining, or industrial sales strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with metal alloys, tempers, specifications, manufacturing processes, and/or metal fabrication is highly desirable.
- Ability to read and interpret customer drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and technical specifications is preferred.
- Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to accurately calculate dimensions, quantities, weights, and pricing.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple RFQs, orders, and customer requests in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with customers professionally and tactfully.
- Strong telephone etiquette and computer proficiency.
