About Reentry CentersReentry Centers serve as a bridge between life in prison and life in the community. Incarcerated people focus on transition, including finding and retaining employment, education, treatment, reconnecting with family members, and developing life skills. They learn and refine social and living skills to create a smoother transition from prison confinement.
Salary Information- Corrections & Custody Officer 1 (DOC WFSE Range 45 Step J‑M) – Full‑time: $5,209 – $5,610
- On‑call/Hourly: $29.94 – $32.24
- Corrections & Custody Officer 2 (DOC WFSE Range 53 Step H‑M) – Full‑time: $6,043 – $6,832
- On‑call/Hourly: $34.73 – $39.26
- One year of experience as a DOC Corrections and Custody Officer, including successful completion of the CORE Academy and the Correctional Officer Field Training Program.
- OR One year of experience as a correctional officer in adult or juvenile corrections where security functions equivalent to a DOC Corrections and Security Officer 2 were performed.
- Valid driver’s license.
On‑call staff may work an average of 32‑40 hours per week; positions have no minimum hour guarantee. Incumbents will attend 6 weeks of full‑time paid training immediately upon hire and will be considered for full‑time permanent or temporary vacancies as they occur. All correctional officers, including on‑call staff, are provided a benefits package when working at least 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities- Maintain security at ECHR and control movement in accordance with established department methods.
- Monitor incarcerated individual activities and movements by observing at close range or from a distance, as well as visually monitoring all security areas.
- Drive incarcerated individuals to employment and medical appointments.
- Monitor incarcerated individuals, visitors, and staff movement using facility cameras.
- Conduct formal and informal counts to account for incarcerated individuals.
- Operate communication devices such as two‑way radio, telephone, etc.
- Read, understand, and follow Post Orders.
- Maintain proper use, control, and accountability of keys, tools, and equipment.
- Strictly adhere to established staff safety practices and participate in safety and security exercises and drills.
- Advise incarcerated individuals on rules, regulations, procedures, institution programs, policies, and behavior standards; investigate and respond to complaints.
- Effectively communicate with incarcerated individuals, staff, and visitors in routine and emergent situations.
- Utilize electronic security devices such as radios and body alarms to maintain safety.
- Direct resistive and non‑resistive incarcerated individuals to maintain orderly operation of the facility.
- Conduct orientation for all new reentry center incarcerated individuals.
- Conduct inspections and searches of incarcerated individuals, their property, living and program areas, staff, visitors, and vehicles.
- Seize dangerous items, evidence, contraband, and controlled or unauthorized substances.
- Write incident or disciplinary reports detailing incarcerated individual behavior and violations of rules and regulations.
- Maintain daily activity logs.
- Graduation from high school or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.

- A background check, including criminal record history, will be conducted prior to a new hire.
- Employees work directly with or near incarcerated individuals in a potentially hazardous setting.
- Applicants will be required to pass a drug test.
- Applicants may encounter pepper spray, animal care projects, and tuberculosis testing.
