Overview

The Tower Foreman supervises and performs construction duties on a daily basis on telecommunication sites. The foreman supervises subcontractors and job site personnel to complete the scope of work assigned and must be able to follow instructions and complete assigned jobs timely and safely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct a crew of 2–4 members.
  • Provide suggestions and recommendations for hiring, firing, and training employees.
  • Provide suggestions and recommendations for employee advancements, compensation, promotions, production, efficiency, or other status changes.
  • Maintain full understanding of the scope of work (SOW) and method of procedures (MOP).
  • Write detailed MOPs and schedule employee work and work hours.
  • Direct and plan the work of assigned employees and determine proper project techniques for them.
  • Maintain job records for use in managing or controlling work.
  • Work with the Superintendent or Construction Manager to determine materials, equipment, and tools to be used for assigned projects.
  • Read, interpret, and build according to design site plans and layouts.
  • Control the flow and distribution of materials and supplies.
  • Plan and control job budgets.
  • Manage all data in Betacom tools (Site Manager) and custom tools.
  • Ensure safety and security of employees and company assets.
  • Perform inspection of entire installations and troubleshoot problems.
  • Capture and provide closeout packages.
  • Participate in handling employee complaints and grievances according to company policy and law.
  • Participate in handling employee discipline and probation according to company policy and law.
  • Take full responsibility for crew safety and ensure crew members comply with company and customer safety requirements.
  • Inspect all tools and rigging gear to ensure safety.
  • Report any workers’ compensation injuries or other incidents.
  • Handle related tasks such as timesheet and record‑keeping, completing Job Safety Analysis, and adjusting equipment and tools.
  • Know hazards associated with tower climbing, construction equipment, and working near energized lines and equipment.
  • Be certified with all test equipment (Anritsu sweep gear, PIM gear, fiber testing, etc.) and experienced with custom tower rigging techniques.
  • Experience troubleshooting devices such as RET’s, GPS antenna systems, RF noise floor, TMA gain, tower light systems, VSWR, microwave systems, etc.
  • Proficient in completing closeout packages.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Highly proficient in all aspects of telecommunication tower maintenance and construction areas.
  • Ability to train and supervise other employees in climbing telecommunications towers, rigging towers, installing and modifying sector mounts, T‑Booms, platforms, and banding of monopoles.
  • Install, test and repair antennas, TMA’s, diplexers, duplexers, surge arrestors, grounding systems, tower components, coaxial and elliptical cable, tower light systems, and ice bridges.
  • Perform sweep tests, read results, and send to customers; perform PIM testing, operate PIM test software, read results, and send to customers.
  • Install, commission, and test RET systems; use GPS alignment tools; install, test, path‑align, and troubleshoot microwave dishes; install, test, and troubleshoot RRU/BBU equipment on towers.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and regulatory personnel.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret extensive technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle multiple abstract and concrete variables.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four years or more of related tower and construction experience and/or training.
  • Good communication skills, reading and writing skills (English).
