Position

Summary

World Relief Western Washington (WRWW) seeks a Family Support Services Specialist to expand our Family Support Services (FSS) program to the local immigrant and refugee community. FSS provides individualized support to children and families in accessing and navigating early childhood and learning systems, school systems, and other supports. The role supports refugee and immigrant children and their families through culturally responsive, strengths‑based, and healing‑centered wrap‑around programs.

Role

& Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain the FSS program caseload through community outreach and follow‑up on referrals.
  • Coordinate intake and enrollment processes.
  • Assist families with applying for WCCC subsidies, childcare, early childhood programs, and kindergarten.
  • Provide follow‑through support for cross‑departmental referrals and case coordination.
  • Support school navigation including registrations, IEP/504 plans, and academic or English language learning needs.
  • Research and connect families to enrichment opportunities and tutoring support; facilitate behavioral and mental health resources.
  • Organize and facilitate parent‑child programming activities and workshops.
  • Partner with families using a culturally responsive and healing‑centered framework: assess needs, set goals, connect resources, and offer support.
  • Maintain sustained engagement through follow‑up and relationship building.
  • Conduct home visits and accompany families to navigate systems and resources.
  • Build a resources list and establish connections with local organizations and partners.
  • Coordinate and organize family engagement events, field trips, and training/workshops.
  • Administer ASQs, PICCOLOs, and other assessments; provide follow‑up services related to child development, disability services, and family well‑being.
  • Administer parent feedback surveys to support program learning and evaluation.
  • Use internal tools and databases to collect, track, and update participant information and case notes.
  • Collaborate with Coordinators and Program Manager to ensure timely data entry.
  • Engage in continuous learning, office and program trainings.
  • Assist the Children and Family programs team with work planning and support planned program activities.
  • Contribute insights and expertise to strengthen overall programming.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Mature Christian faith and commitment to World Relief’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Willingly affirm World Relief’s Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity, and the National Association of Evangelicals’ document for the Health of the Nation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • 1–2 years of social work or casework experience with families accessing community resources and navigating child/student‐related systems.
  • Ability to build strong cross‑cultural relationships and employ culturally responsive, trauma‑informed practices.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills; ability to communicate professionally with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel to participant homes, partner sites, and programs.
