PositionWe are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support the P-8 Mission Systems Software team located in Kent, Washington. This role is part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security Services and focuses on the development, testing, and support of Mission Systems software for the P-8 Poseidon program.
Position Responsibilities- Reviews, analyzes, and translates customer requirements into initial design of software products.
- Designs, develops, tests, and maintains mission software throughout the lifecycle that meets customer requirements.
- Participates in lab integration, debug, and test.
- Investigates and resolves issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products.
- Follows and improves software processes.
- Executes and documents software research and development projects.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
- 3 or more years of engineering work experience in:
- Java (preferred), C++ or C programming language experience
- Exposure to Object Oriented Design
- Troubleshooting S/W issues in a complex environment
- Linux and Windows development environments
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 5+ years of related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 9+ years of directly related work experience OR 13+ years of related, relevant experience
- Agile software development processes
- Jira, git, Bit Bucket
- Scripting languages: XML, Perl, Python
- Experience in Weapons Integration on military platforms
- Software Architecture experience
- Software Requirements experience
- Interface design and control document experience
- Supporting contractual deliverables
- Development of User Interface design
- Experience with validation and verification processes
Pay and Benefits:
The total rewards package includes competitive base pay, variable compensation, and a range of benefits such as health insurance, flexible spending accounts, retirement plans, and paid and unpaid time off. Summary pay range: $135,150 - $182,850. Applications will be accepted until July 23, 2026.
Relocation:
The position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
Security Clearance:
Requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.

Shift: 1st shift.
