Hourly Rate: $, depending on experience

• Under the direction of an assigned Beach Manager, Lifeguard assists in providing a safe environment for patrons of a specific recreational area
• Oversees public activities
• Safeguards patrons
• Maintains order
• Acts in the event of an emergency and administers first aid when necessary
• Works as part of a team with other lifeguards
• Participates in the in-service training program
• Maintains records as assigned
• Attends all beach staff meetings
• Maintains equipment and grounds
• Uses corrective lenses if needed to maintain 20/20 vision when on duty
• Performs other related duties as assigned

American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certificate is required American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor certificate highly desired. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age; must be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and mature judgment and be in good physical condition. Applicants are subject to position-relevant criminal background check.

While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; and talk and hear. The incumbent is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work is performed in a field environment; may be exposed to individuals who are difficult. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Subject to irregular work schedules including weekday, weekend, and evening.
