Senior Lifeguard (2 positions available)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of an assigned Beach Manager, the Senior Lifeguard assists in providing a safe environment for patrons of a specific recreational area; oversees public activities; safeguards patrons; maintains order; acts in the event of an emergency and administers first aid when necessary; works as part of a team with other lifeguards; participates in the in-service training program; maintains records as assigned;
attends all beach staff meetings; maintains equipment and grounds; uses corrective lenses if needed to maintain 20/20 vision when on duty; and performs other related duties as assigned. In addition, the Senior Lifeguard assumes the duties of the Beach Manager when the Manager is absent from the beach.
- Current American Red Cross (ARC) Advanced Lifesaving or Lifeguard Training Certificate required
- American Red Cross Standard First Aid Certificate required
- American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certificate required
- American Red Cross Blood Borne Pathogens Certificate is highly desirable
- Northwest Lifeguard Test Certificate highly desirable
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have at least 2 years of beach lifeguarding experience; strong communication skills; demonstrate mature judgment and be in good physical condition. All lifeguards will be subject to a mandatory pre-employment drug testing.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:Work is performed in a field environment; may be exposed to individuals who are difficult. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Subject to irregular work schedules including weekday, weekend, and evening.
