The Role
The Station Leader is responsible for directing and guiding personnel involved in delivery Airline Ground Transportation Services at the station. The leader fosters a team of fully accountable professionals dedicated to delivering exceptional service that exceeds client expectations and aims to be the most cost-effective and professional provider of Airline Ground Transportation Services.
Responsibilities- Lead & inspire: motivate and manage a team of 45-50 drivers, ensuring safe, efficient, and timely operations.
- Operational Excellence: ensure all routes are running smoothly and on schedule.
- Strategic Planning: oversee scheduling, KPI management, budget planning, and talent development.
- Customer Relations: elevate service levels to exceed client expectations, turning airline crews into raving fans.
- Safety First: lead with a commitment to safety, ensuring compliance and reporting for timely issue resolution.
- Team Building: develop and maintain a reliable team of drivers dedicated to excellence.
- Manage operational activities and personnel assigned to transportation services dispatched from the transportation station.
- Prioritize and ensure transit route and service commitments are met.
- Supervise, evaluate, and oversee recruiting and training of transportation station staff.
- Investigate, document, and submit reports on station vehicle accidents and all necessary maintenance.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining budgetary financial reports.
- Conduct on-site inspections of all vehicle repair and maintenance.
- Schedule all station drivers and regularly update based on demand and availability.
- Attend all scheduled manager meetings.
- Oversee, complete, and follow up on all disciplinary actions needed at the local station.
- Work closely with dispatch to avoid and resolve any service issues.
- Visionary Leader: someone who can inspire and drive a team to success.
- Tech-savy: basic computer and mobile technology skills.
- Financial acumen: P&L knowledge is a must.
- Proven success: track record of building successful teams and advocating for drivers.
- Strong communicator: excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experienced professional: minimum 2+ years of management experience (preferably in airline/airport or transportation) and 3+ years in the transportation industry.
- Safety champion: demonstrated experience in safety management and fostering a safety-first culture.
- Coach & Mentor: experience in training and coaching is preferred.
- Licensed & ready: valid driver’s license required; may need to obtain special city/airport permits.
- Flexible: willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings.
- Resilient personality: able to pivot and resolve difficult situations.
- Five years experience in transportation with managing experience desired.
- Experience supervising transportation staff members.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations applicable to transportation.
- Good leadership and communication skills.
- Must have current, valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Will be required to obtain driving permits as required by airport authorities.
- Experience driving a shuttle, bus, passenger van or vehicle for hire is preferred.
- Must be able to lift to 75 lbs. by self, up to 20 times a day.
- Must have dexterous use of both hands and legs; must be able to work outdoors in heat and cold.
- Must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the public, understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language to respond to official inquiries and to make entries on reports and records.
