Position Summary
A Relief Driver – CDL (B) is responsible for safely operating a collection truck, providing prompt, courteous and complete waste removal services for customers. The driver must ensure the vehicle complies with the company’s safety standards, adhere to all applicable regulations, and complete vehicle condition reports (VCRs) daily to address defects timely.
Principal Responsibilities- Perform pre‑ and post‑operation inspection of the vehicle to verify tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges and controls.
- Operate the heavy truck along the designated route, read route sheet, follow maps, and service each customer as assigned.
- Use manual/automatic controls to lift and load refuse, operate the compactor, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
- Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers, and others, ensuring timely service.
- Identify unsatisfactory waste containers, tag them per departmental procedures, and monitor waste for unacceptable material.
- Clean the area around accidental waste spills, adhering to safety standards.
- Maintain vehicle readiness, cleaning waste from the packer blade and truck body after each disposal trip.
- Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs and other reports.
- Maintain adherence to productivity standards and safety policies, and actively participate in the ReSOP program.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

- Compliance with company policies and safety standards; avoidance of unnecessary risks.

- Two years of prior commercial truck driving experience preferred.
- Class B (or higher) Commercial Driver’s license with air brakes endorsement.
Union positions: $36.07/hr USD. This is a DOT position.
