Senior Tax Accountant - CPA

Flood & Associations is a boutique CPA firm based in Crystal Lake, IL providing tax, accounting, and advisory services to closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals across the Midwest and other parts of the country. Founded in 1965, we've spent more than 60 years building a reputation for integrity, technical expertise, and lasting client relationships.

We are seeking an experienced Tax Accountant to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys working directly with clients, values a collaborative work environment, and is looking for a clear path to professional growth and increased responsibility. This role follows a standard 40-hour week for most of the year. During tax season (January 15 - April 15), extended hours are required to meet filing deadlines, typically averaging 50-55 hours per week, including some Saturdays.

• Prepare and review individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, fiduciary, and nonprofit tax returns.
• Perform tax planning and consulting services for business and individual clients.
• Research federal and state tax issues and communicate findings to clients and team members.
• Assist clients with tax notices, audits, and compliance matters.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
• Collaborate with firm leadership on client service strategies and practice development.
• Mentor and support junior staff as the firm continues to grow.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• CPA license required (or actively pursuing licensure).
• Minimum of 3 years of recent public accounting tax experience.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state taxation for individuals and businesses.
• Experience with Ultra Tax or other tax preparation and research software.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.

• $80,000 - $105,000 salary based on experience.
