About the Role

As a Tax Manager within Caterpillar's Global Tax – International Tax Team, you will serve as a trusted advisor to business partners across the enterprise, helping navigate complex international tax matters while supporting Caterpillar's global business operations. In this role, you will partner with stakeholders across Tax, Finance, Legal, Commercial, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Operations to analyze international business activities, assess tax implications, and develop practical, business-focused recommendations.

You will support tax planning initiatives, oversee aspects of non-U.S. tax compliance, manage audit-related activities, and help drive tax-efficient business decisions across multiple jurisdictions. You will join a highly collaborative global team supporting operations across Canada, Latin America, EAME and Asia. Success in this role requires more than technical tax knowledge. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, relationship builder, and project manager who can effectively collaborate across geographies, influence stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and translate complex tax concepts into practical business guidance.

What

You Will Do
  • International Tax Advisory – Analyze international business initiatives, supply chain projects, and commercial arrangements to identify tax implications and opportunities.
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, Commercial, Operations, and Tax subject matter experts to provide coordinated and actionable tax recommendations.
  • Evaluate contracting structures, delivery terms, operating models, and cross-border transactions.
  • Support tax‑efficient business decisions while appropriately managing risk.
  • Global Business Partnership – Build strong relationships with business partners across multiple functions and geographic regions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to finance and operational leaders.
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand evolving business activities and proactively identify potential tax considerations.
  • Translate complex tax concepts into clear and practical guidance for non‑tax audiences.
  • Tax Compliance & Audit Support – Support compliance oversight for non‑U.S. operations.
  • Review or assist with international income tax filings, transfer pricing documentation, and related compliance activities.
  • Support tax audits and information requests from tax authorities globally.
  • Partner with internal teams and external advisors to ensure timely and accurate compliance.
  • Project & Change Management – Support cross‑functional and cross‑border business initiatives, including supply chain transformations and organizational changes.
  • Coordinate stakeholders across multiple regions and disciplines.
  • Manage multiple project priorities while maintaining attention to detail and accountability.
  • Educate non‑tax personnel on tax‑related considerations impacting the business.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, Business, Economics, or related field.
  • 6+ years of progressively responsible tax and/or finance experience.
  • Experience supporting international (non‑U.S.) tax matters.
  • Working knowledge of:
    Corporate Income Tax, International Tax, Transfer Pricing, Indirect Tax concepts.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across functions and geographies.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining a high degree of accountability.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Fluent verbal and written English communication skills.
