Job Description: Vallencourt Construction Co., Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accounting Manager or Controller to join our team. This position will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. This role requires a strong background in construction accounting and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to sub-ledgers.
- Ability to record regular journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
- Understanding of revenue recognition and lease accounting under GAAP.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Manage company cash flow and budgeting processes.
- Monitor and report on project profitability and cost management.
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure accurate job cost reporting.
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management.
- Lead tax and audit activities.
- Ensure compliance with legal accounting practices and respond to changes in regulations.
- Develop and maintain detailed financial reports and documentation.
- Provide leadership and direction to the accounting team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and construction accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Excel, Foundation and B2W.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with lien releases and subcontractor management.
- Familiarity with Human Resources documentation and compliance.
- Salary range $85k - $140k commensurate on experience. Competitive benefits package.
