The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial records through the preparation of account reconciliations, journal entries, month-end and year-end close activities, and financial statement support. This position analyzes and reconciles assigned balance sheet accounts, including cash, investments, leases, accrued liabilities, and other assets, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items and compliance with U.S. GAAP and organizational policies.
The Staff Accountant supports accounts payable processes by reconciling invoices and requisitions, ensuring compliance with three‑way match requirements, and serving as a backup for vendor maintenance, payment processing, and data conversion activities. Additional responsibilities include reconciling corporate credit card transactions, assisting with external audits, preparing audit schedules and supporting documentation, participating in internal control and process improvement initiatives, supporting system implementations and special projects, and performing other duties as assigned to support the Finance Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Accounting and Finance related bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; no prior accounting experience required. OR
- High school diploma or equivalent and at least five (5) years of accounting experience.
Knowledge of FASB Accounting principles is required.
Experience with accounts payable and accounting in hospital setting is strongly preferred.
