Summary

Energy Transfer is looking for a Supervisor – Crude Terminal Accounting to join the Houston Terminal Accounting team. This position leads accounting activities related to crude segment terminals, including inventory movements, storage operations, customer activity, terminal invoicing, revenue recognition, volumetric reconciliations, and financial close.

The supervisor works closely with Operations, Measurement, Scheduling, Commercial, and other accounting teams to ensure terminal activity is recorded accurately, completely, and timely. This position also develops employees, strengthens financial controls, resolves complex accounting matters, and leads process and system improvements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise daily accounting activities related to crude terminals, including inventory movements, storage operations, and customer activity
  • Coordinate the monthly financial close and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting analyses.
  • Oversee accurate and timely customer invoicing, revenue recognition, deferred revenue, and contract-related accounting.
  • Interpret customer contracts and verify storage, throughput, minimum-volume, and other applicable charges.
  • Prepare monthly reporting and analysis
  • Maintain effective SOX controls and support internal, external, and customer audits.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop accounting employees while establishing clear expectations, responsibilities, and deadlines.
  • Build effective working relationships across Accounting, Operations, Measurement, Scheduling, and Commercial.
  • Lead initiatives to improve terminal accounting processes, reporting, controls, data quality, and system automation.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience , Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum of eight years of accounting experience, preferably including terminal, inventory, operational, midstream, pipeline, storage, or energy accounting.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory or team-lead experience.
  • Experience with financial close, journal entries, account reconciliations, inventory accounting, revenue accounting, and financial controls.
  • Ability to interpret contracts and apply appropriate accounting and control requirements.
  • Experience with ERP or accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with SAP, terminal inventory systems, Power BI, Databricks, or similar platforms is preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Usually normal office working conditions.
  • Periodic visits to terminal or industrial facilities may be required.
