Job SummaryThe Director of Hotel Accounting partners closely with the Vice President of Hotel Accounting to oversee the financial and accounting operations of Stonebridge Companies' hotel portfolio. This position provides leadership to the Denver-based property accounting team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards, operational efficiency, and exceptional service to hotel ownership groups and internal stakeholders. The Director of Hotel Accounting serves as a strategic business partner to accounting leadership, operations teams, and hotel management while driving process improvements and maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity and accountability.
Essential Functions and Duties- Lead the month-end close process and oversee financial reporting activities for an assigned portfolio of hotels in accordance with USALI and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, financial statements, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Direct, coach, mentor, and develop property accounting team members to maximize performance, engagement, and professional growth.
- Participate in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management activities for accounting staff.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with hotel owners by providing accurate financial reporting, transparent communication, and exceptional accounting support.
- Partner with accounting leadership, operations leaders, General Managers, and hotel accounting teams to support business objectives and improve financial performance.
- Identify, recommend, and implement process improvements, automation initiatives, and workflow enhancements to increase efficiency and scalability.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Research, analyze, and resolve accounting discrepancies, variances, and compliance-related issues in a timely manner.
- Coordinate and manage external audit activities, including year-end audits and requests from ownership groups and regulatory agencies.
- Monitor department deadlines and deliverables to ensure timely completion of all financial reporting requirements.
- Provide exceptional customer service and support to internal and external stakeholders while fostering collaborative working relationships.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Minimum five (5) years of progressive accounting experience required.
- Minimum two (2) years of leadership experience in a manager, director, or similar accounting leadership role required.
- Hospitality accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency required.
- Experience with hospitality accounting and operational systems, including M3, Otelier, Ottimate, Paymerang, PMS, and POS systems preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Demonstrated leadership, team development, and coaching skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to financial integrity.
Primarily office-based work environment. Frequent use of computers, accounting systems, telephones, and standard office equipment.
