Senior Accounting Specialist

Leads month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting for the firm's clients, and supervises junior accounting staff.

Sosa & Arvelo is looking for an experienced accounting professional to lead financial operations for the firm’s clients, working out of the Orlando, FL office on a hybrid schedule - Monday through Thursday on-site, Friday remote.

The Senior Accounting Specialist leads month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, prepares financial statements and executive summaries, and manages reconciliations and the general ledger across a caseload of client accounts. The role also supervises and develops junior accounting staff and interns, and serves as a primary point of contact for assigned clients.

• Lead the full month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process, and prepare income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
• Perform bank, credit card, and intercompany reconciliations, and maintain the general ledger - journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing, vendor management, invoicing, and collections
• Maintain compliance with GAAP and firm policy, and prepare documentation supporting external audits, tax filings, and internal reviews
• Serve as the primary accounting point of contact for assigned clients, including client calls and new-client onboarding
• Champion the adoption of AI tools and automation for recurring accounting tasks, and document the resulting workflows
• Supervise and develop junior accounting staff and interns, including quality review and regular one-on-ones

• 2-5 years of hands-on accounting experience in a professional-services or client-facing environment
• Demonstrated proficiency in Quick Books
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior accounting staff
• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish
• Working knowledge of GAAP and standard accounting principles
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, AP/AR, and audit support
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and comfort with the rest of Microsoft Office
• Strong technology literacy, with hands-on experience using AI tools
• Ability to work independently from the Orlando, FL office

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, CPA or CPA-track a plus
• Familiarity with workflow-automation tools
